ELBHAVN at the BESONDERS MARKT 2022

A Day to Remember: ELBHAVN at the BESONDERS MARKT

On October 30, 2022, ELBHAVN proudly participated in the BESONDERS MARKT at the Museum of Work – a day filled with inspiration, connection, and a deep passion for leather craftsmanship. Following our debut at the Manufakturenmarkt in HafenCity, this event marked an exciting step forward in sharing the story of ELBHAVN with a wider audience.

Design and food markets like this never fail to amaze me. They create a community that celebrates craftsmanship, creativity, and individuality. For me, it was a perfect opportunity not just to showcase my leather goods but to allow visitors to experience the art of leatherworking firsthand.

Bringing Leather Craftsmanship to Life

Inspiring people with genuine craftsmanship is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. At the stand, I didn’t just display my handmade accessories crafted from vegetable-tanned Vacchetta leather – I also explained the tools and techniques behind them. Visitors were particularly fascinated when I demonstrated the traditional saddle stitch, a method where each stitch is meticulously made by hand.

This experience reinforced the importance of sharing the story behind each product. From selecting the leather to adding the final touches, every piece is a reflection of passion and dedication. Some of the most touching moments were the conversations with visitors who immediately recognized and appreciated the quality and story behind my creations.

A Marketplace of Inspiration and Creativity

The BESONDERS MARKT is a celebration of all things unique. With over 80 exhibitors showcasing everything from fashion to home accessories and fine foods, the event offered visitors a chance to explore, shop, and discover the stories behind the products.

One trend I found particularly fascinating was the revival of traditional craftsmanship, creatively reinterpreted by young labels. It was inspiring to see how handmade work is reclaiming its place in modern design.

A Day of Connections and Fresh Ideas

As a leather artisan, I felt instantly at home at the Museum of Work. The historical workshops and live demonstrations of traditional techniques provided a fitting backdrop for the BESONDERS MARKT. The connection between past and present is something that resonates deeply with my work. Leather, as a material, carries a rich history, and it’s a privilege to continue that tradition through my designs.

The BESONDERS MARKT reaffirmed the importance of sharing my passion for leather craftsmanship. Conversations with visitors, the recognition of authentic handmade work, and the chance to be part of such a special event made the day truly unforgettable.

I’m already looking forward to seeing you at future markets and surprising you with new creations. Stay curious – ELBHAVN is always moving forward!
